If you are of a certain age, you may well remember Spring Break in Fort Lauderdale when hordes of students descended upon our fair city and – well – pretty much wrecked it for two weeks. At its’ peak there were some 350,000 visitors in the mid 1980’s. Compare that with the fact that the native population today is only about 175,000 and – even if you weren’t there at the time – you can see what sort of impact it had on the city. Taken together, it multiplies the population by three. For a whole two weeks.
A Sigh Of Relief to Businesses With Glass Windows or Entryway Doors
You can well see why most of the local residents heaved a huge sigh of relief when it was over. Today, Spring Break probably only sees an influx of around 20,000 to 30,000 young people – still a lot, but nowhere near the madness of the 80’s.
Home window repair Fort Lauderdale is still a priority though, during Spring Break. The simple fact is that these young people just let their hair down for a couple of weeks, have far too much to drink, and are no doubt taking all sorts of drugs, all of which encourages them to go out on the rampage through the city causing mayhem.
Of course, if you were there in the 80’s you can look out of your windows (which we just repaired or replaced) and look at the beach bums and the beach babes and recall your youth. Don’t forget, though, that it is said that if you can remember the 60’s you weren’t there!
